THANG LOI EMBROIDERY VILLAGE

From Hanoi, heading south along National Highway 1A for about 20 kilometers, we will have the opportunity to revisit the ancestral land of traditional embroidery, Thang Loi commune, Thuong Tin district. Since ancient times, the skilled embroiderers of this village have always taken pride in considering Thang Loi and Quat Dong regions as the cradle of embroidery, where exquisite embroidered artworks adorn life.

According to the preserved genealogy, the patriarch of Thang Loi embroidery (also known as the patriarch of Vietnamese embroidery) is Le Cong Hanh, born in the locality in 1606. Since then, for the villagers of Thang Loi, embroidery has been a daily occupation. Everyone in the village, surrounded by the scent of rice, can be seen engaged in embroidery – from young maidens, elderly individuals, to even the little ones, all diligently working with their embroidery frames.
